Candidates for hair transplant are vastly different in age and desired results. Each person is individualized. Candidates can be in their 20’s with significant family history and aggressive hair loss to middle age and beyond wanting density in certain areas. All patients are medically screened and interviewed to make sure what they want and desire is appropriate and obtainable. Certain scalp and medical conditions, and unrealistic expectations, can make patients unqualified as a transplant candidate.
Transplant candidates are encouraged to consider adjunct therapy before , during, and after their transplant. This can be as simple as taking a pill a day (finasteride), to PRP programs, laser cap treatments, and hair care systems. We try to emphasize that the adjuncts are just that….They are a program to maximize your results that need to be followed. Once these are discontinued you will lose any of their benefits. Most of our patients elect to at least do the once a day medical therapy.
Post procedure care is spelled out in a calendar of do’s and don’ts. We give a detailed “how to” take care of immediate post procedure for the first 2 weeks. This is followed by phone calls and then 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, and 12 month follow ups and photos. Any questions that arise in the interim are promptly answered and addressed.
